So this post is a little belated but worth posting! The day after Christmas I flew to Scottsdale tomeet Tim's family. Tim had mentioned it nonchalantly a couple of weeksbefore and I kind of blew it off thinking he was joking. Well he wasn't and had bou

ght me a plane ticket. Iappreciated it so much and was honored to go see his family but at the same time petrified. I had met his parents a couple of

times before but it was brief and it is different being there for 3 days inside someone home and experiencing family dynamics. I had to work the day I flew out and was a stress case by the time I got home. My friend Luna picked me up to take me to the airport and when she arrived I was flushed with frustration and frantically trying to shut my suitcase. She of course started to pull clothes out because I had packed for every occasion 3 pairs of jeans 5 scarves 4 pairs of shoes, it was ridiculous! We finally minimize my packing and ran to the car because we are now late. On the way Luna is running a checklist by me to make sure I have everything I said yes yes let's just go and then realized I had forgot my wallet at work. How we made it to the airport I don't know but Luna was gracious in putting up with me and calming me down. As I sat on the plane I had not realized that I was tapping my foot incessantly and the woman next to me was watching me and asked if I was afraid of flying and I said no just meeting the boyfriends family for the first time that is all!! She was a woman in her late 60's and laughed and she said "oh honey you will be fine just be polite and smile!" She then told the guy next to me about how nervous I was and when we landed in Arizona half the plane told me good luck on meeting the fam! As soon as I saw Tim my anxi

ousness left. His family was sweet and stayed up late to welcome me and his mom gave me some warm socks to keep my feet warm since it was freezing there. The next morning I had visions of the movie "Meet the Parents" when Ben Stiller sleeps in and the whole fam is up and showered and ready to go, so I barely slept and woke up at 7am. Saturday morning was funny watching the family dynamics in which it took most of the day to figure out what to do and didn't actually move until 4pm. Reminded me of when all my extended family gets together!! I met his 2 brothers Todd and Dave. Todd is 6'4 with hair and very outgoing, Dave looks alot like Tim and is the cool guy. The whole time I was trying to figure out what they thought of me and was worried what they thought about their baby brother dating me! I tried to get the dirt on Tim but everybody was tight lipped. So I took the brothers out for a beer hoping to get an embarrassing story on Tim, and put them in the hot seat! It was fun to get them out and watch the brothers interact! Sunday we went to church and then Tim and I dashed out for a little alone time. His mom has a convertible bug so we took it out, top down (60 degree) and went to a little mining town. We walked around this great old town and went horseback riding in the dessert, which was a blast! I had never been on a horse or in the desert so it was neat to experience that. We left the next day to go home and before we left Nana ( his 90 year old grandma) made everybody circle up and pray before we all went our separate ways. Nana was precious and I enjoyed every minute with her. I left feeling like I knew Tim a little bit better after seeing his family and hoped I made a good impression. I was myself....well a slightly better version of myself minus the burping, snorting when I laugh and sarcaism. Maybe next visit they will see that!!
Does anybody have an embarrassing story of meeting their significant other's family? Do share!!
